InkCop End-User License Agreement

IMPORTANT: Please read this Agreement carefully and make sure you fully understand its terms before using the InkCop software. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the software you agree to be bound by all the terms and conditions of this Agreement. If you do not agree with any part of this Agreement, you must immediately stop using the software.
1. Scope of Agreement
1.1 Applicability
This End-User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between the InkCop development team (“Developer”, “we”, or “us”) and any individual or entity who downloads, installs, accesses, or uses the InkCop writing-assistant software (“Software” or “InkCop”) (“User” or “you”).
1.2 Content
This Agreement consists of the main text, the Privacy Policy, and any future rules, statements, or notices published by the Developer. Once officially released, these documents form an integral part of this Agreement and have the same legal force.
2. Software Overview
2.1 Nature
InkCop is an AI-powered desktop application that provides writing assistance, local knowledge-base management, and local data analysis. It integrates multiple large-language-model (LLM) services to deliver smart writing, text editing, and content-generation features.
2.2 Technical Architecture
- Frontend: Vue.js 3 + Quasar Framework
- Backend: Qt 6.10.0 + Qt WebEngine
- Databases: SQLite & ObjectBox (embedded)
- AI Integration: Global mainstream LLM providers + local Ollama
- AI Relay: Out-of-the-box relay service that forwards requests to LLM providers; no manual configuration required
- Vector Search (Knowledge Base)
- Index: HNSW algorithm via hnswlib
- Compute: Local CPU/GPU vector computation
3. Intellectual-Property Statement
3.1 Software Copyright
The Software, its documentation, code, UI design, graphics, and all related materials are owned by the Developer and protected by the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China, applicable national laws, and international copyright treaties. Without prior written consent, no person or organization may copy, distribute, adapt, de-compile, or reverse-engineer the Software in any form.
3.2 Third-Party Components
We gratefully acknowledge the following open-source components:
- Vue.js 3, Quasar Framework, Qt Framework, SQLite, ObjectBox, hnswlib, Pinia, Vite, TypeScript, and others listed in the Software’s dependency manifest. Original copyrights are reserved by respective owners; we comply with each license and retain original copyright notices.
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 Lawful Use
You agree to:
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the PRC (or your jurisdiction)
- Refrain from any illegal activity via the Software
- Not use the Software in any way that endangers national security, public interest, or third-party rights
- Not interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of the Software
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You may NOT:
- Reverse-engineer, de-compile, or attempt to extract source code
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use the Software through any unauthorized means
- Generate illegal, infringing, or harmful content
- Use the Software commercially without proper authorization
5. AI-Generated-Content Disclaimer
5.1 Nature of AI Services
AI features are technical tools only. The Developer bears no legal liability for any AI-generated content.
5.2 User Responsibility
You understand and agree that:
- AI output is for reference only and does not constitute professional advice
- You alone must verify accuracy, legality, and suitability
- You must comply with applicable laws when using AI output
- Any dispute or legal consequence arising from AI output is your sole responsibility
5.3 Limitations
The Developer is NOT liable for:
- Inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated AI content
- Bias, discrimination, or other inappropriate content
- Temporary interruption, delay, or technical failure of AI services
- Policy changes or adjustments by third-party AI providers
6. Data & Privacy
6.1 Data Collection
InkCop is “local-first.” Functions are isolated from online services to the maximum extent. Cloud interaction is required only when:
- Activating license or subscription—basic info and order data are stored in the cloud
- Calling non-Ollama LLMs—your prompts and tool-calls are sent to the chosen provider
- Using PDF recognition via MinerU—PDF content is processed on MinerU’s cloud (deleted after 24 h per MinerU’s statement)
- Opting into InkCop AI relay—prompts are forwarded without retention; future abuse filtering may be added
6.2 Data Security
We employ reasonable security measures but are NOT liable for:
- Data loss due to force-majeure events
- Loss caused by your own misconduct (e.g., password leakage)
- Processing by third-party providers
- You must back up your data. Default local paths:
- Windows: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\inkCop
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/inkCop/user/
- Linux: ~/.local/share/inkCop/user/
7. Service Changes & Interruption
7.1 Changes
We may at any time add, remove, or modify features, AI providers, or UI/workflow.
7.2 Interruption
Service may be suspended without liability for:
- Maintenance, upgrades, or bug fixes
- Force-majeure events
- Third-party service outages
- Security or stability requirements
8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Liability
8.1 “As-Is” Basis
The Software is provided “as-is.” We make no express or implied warranties regarding fitness, stability, or error-free operation. Use at your own risk.
8.2 Indirect Damages
Under no circumstances shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to lost profits, business interruption, data loss, or loss of expected benefits.
8.3 Third-Party Services
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or legality of any third-party websites, services, or content accessed via the Software.
9. Developer’s Rights Protection
9.1 IP Rights
We reserve all rights to the Software and any modifications, interfaces, or algorithms, and the final right to interpret this Agreement.
9.2 Technical Protection
We may employ encryption, license verification, usage monitoring, and abuse prevention.
9.3 Legal Remedies
We reserve the right to pursue legal remedies for any infringement or breach, including claiming full compensation.
10. User Rights & Obligations
10.1 Rights
Subject to this Agreement, you may:
- Use the Software as provided
- Receive basic technical support
- Submit reasonable feature suggestions
10.2 Obligations
You must:
- Comply with all terms herein
- Not harm the Developer or other users
- Cooperate with updates and maintenance
- Report bugs promptly
11. Modifications & Updates to Agreement
11.1 Amendments
We may modify any term as business requires. Amended versions are effective once published inside the Software.
11.2 Notice
Material changes will be notified via in-app messages or other reasonable means. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
11.3 Version Control
You should review the latest version periodically. If you disagree with any change, stop using the Software immediately.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
12.1 Law
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People’s Republic of China (or your local jurisdiction).
12.2 Dispute Resolution
Any dispute shall first be resolved through friendly consultation. Failing that, either party may bring litigation in the competent court at the Developer’s domicile.
12.3 Severability
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed to the minimum extent necessary without affecting the validity of the remaining provisions.
13. Miscellaneous
13.1 Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Software and supersedes all prior oral or written agreements.
13.2 Waiver
No delay or failure to exercise any right or remedy shall constitute a waiver thereof.

14. Effectiveness
14.1 Acceptance
You accept this Agreement by:
- Downloading, installing, or using the Software
- Clicking “Agree” or any similar button
- Otherwise accessing any service provided by the Software
14.2 Term
This Agreement is effective from the date of acceptance until you stop using the Software or we terminate the service.
USER CONFIRMATION: I have read and fully understood all terms of this Agreement and agree to abide by them unconditionally. I understand that using InkCop signifies unconditional acceptance of this Agreement.
REMINDER: If you do not agree with any part of this Agreement, you must immediately stop using InkCop.
